Two Distinct Opinions on Trump’s Speech to Congress ~ Gene Valentino with Newsmax’s Tom Borelli
Gene Valentino on Newsmax’s Newsline
The Democrats in disarray are making light of their recent behavior in Congress. We have a pattern of bad behavior by the left that shows their hate for Donald Trump, overshadowing the honor Trump was giving to Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, a 13 year old cancer survivor D.J. Daniel, and a West Point applicant. Moreover, the Dems ignored Donald Trump on his arrival onto the House floor. Disgraceful! Dems just lost the mid-terms!

Chris Ruddy: This is Chris Ruddy, and I love Gene Valentino’s GrassRoots TruthCast. Make sure you’re tuning in just like I do every day, every week, every minute.
Tom Borelli: Now to debate this, joining me now is GOP political strategist and insider and host of GrassRoots TruthCast podcast, Gene Valentino, along with editor in chief of the national memo, Joe Connison. Good morning, gentlemen. Good morning. Great to have you here again. Um, let me start off with you, Joe. Do you think the Democrat Party is losing their way?
I mean, when you really look at the emotions surrounding that event, why would they not stand up for good things? Even, you know, a poor child who is battling cancer.
Joe Conason: Of course, everybody should stand up and applaud a child who’s battling cancer. And those who didn’t, uh, I think were confused or made a mistake, or were just, uh, [00:02:00] you know, wrong.
Uh, actually, if you go back, though, and look at Snopes and others who fact checked it, a lot of Democrats did applaud, uh, That young boy and he deserved to be applauded and frankly, I think it was what the president did was nice I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t think most Decent people do whether this is a you know, a cataclysmic event that will decide You know, the coming political regime is is another matter though I think these things are seen and they’re and they are forgotten just like Marjorie Taylor Greene’s outburst was forgotten lots of other incidents during State of the Union are forgotten Eventually, and they, they fade away in contrast to the bigger issues that dominate elections.
Uh, and I will tell you whatever, you know, Democrats in disarray is kind of a standing headline, right? As you ought to know, because you’re, you’re not as old as I am, I’m sure, but you can remember that for instance, in 1974, after a [00:03:00] gigantic landslide, the Republicans lost 49 House seats. In nine, in 2016.
2018, sorry, when Trump was elected the first time, uh, the Democrats won 41 seats, uh, after being declared dead and, you know, they’re in disarray and all the rest. So I’ve been to this rodeo before. We all have. And uh, I don’t think an incident like the one you mentioned is going to decide anything really.
Tom Borelli: Yeah. So, uh. Gene, let’s get your response here. I believe we have some video of what the Democrats actually did, you know, on the House floor.
So Gene, [00:04:00] my visual, I saw a lot of Democrats sitting, if not all, but what’s your response to that event? In the House, as well as Joe’s initial remarks.
Gene Valentino: Well, I agree with Joe in part with the fact that, uh, this is one of those events that, um, there’s no partisanship involved. Uh, the beauty of America is that we’re compassionate giving people, regardless of party affiliation, uh, as evidenced by our historic patterns.
The problem here is that we have A specific pattern that has been evidenced that’s tied more to the hate for Donald Trump than it is for the compassion of a 13 year old boy. There’s more of a mandate. Can you hear me? Yes. Uh, yeah, there’s more of a mandate to, to be able to, um, to, uh, try to, uh, follow a, uh, lockstep approach by the [00:05:00] Democrats without rhyme or region, reason, except for this incident, uh, 10 Democrats stepped out on their own and did not follow the mantra of the party line.
And, uh, voted for the censorship of, of, uh, Congressman Greene, and should have. That, bad behavior is bad behavior. I don’t care what party you’re with, it should be censored, and, uh, in this case, it was set against the backdrop of a lot of disrespect for Donald Trump and his success story the first 40 days.
Tom Borelli: Now, Joe, that wasn’t the only visual we saw with Democrats, in my view, getting a little bit out of hand. And we also saw, uh, Al Greene. With his outbursts. And now 10 Democrats ended up joining Republicans in censoring him. Uh, what’s your response to Al Green’s, uh, antics on, on the House floor?
Joe Conason: Well, I don’t think that was the, the wisest move, but I can understand why he’s upset.
You know, the Republicans are preparing to cut, [00:06:00] uh, almost a billion dollars from Medicaid, which is really an issue of compassion as much as standing up and applauding a cancer, uh, survivor. And he’s angry about it, and he expressed it. And, you know, it’s, it’s kind of like an act of syphilis, disobedience. I think he should be prepared to be censured.
The Democrats who voted for the censure resolution, uh, did so, at least some of them did, because they said they had done the same when Marjorie Taylor Greene and other Republicans had interrupt, interrupted Democratic presidents during State of the Union addresses. So they felt in fairness, they should, uh, take the same position.
And I respect that as well. I think the whole thing is a huge distraction and, uh, absolutely meaningless.
Tom Borelli: Gene, your overall response, do you think Democrats did brand damage with their antics on the House floor?
Gene Valentino: Yeah, I don’t care about uh, the billion dollars or million dollars of Cuts in medicaid. It’s not any no one’s interested in cutting.
Uh, [00:07:00] The benefits to medicaid they’re interested in cutting waste and fraud and abuse And the overreaction on the democrat side that they’re that the republicans are trying to Cut basic services. They extended that argument to social security as well. It’s just not true They’re trying to find the waste what’s inflammatory to the democrats Is that the uh scab is being ripped off the wound and we’re seeing firsthand the degree of Pervasive wrongdoing and criminal wrongdoing, uh, that’s involved with the spending of American taxpayer dollars.
And it is something that’s long overdue. It’s something that’s needed. It’s, it’s, uh, it’s precedential and it should have happened a long time ago. So
Joe Conason: do you think there’s
Gene Valentino: 880 billion dollars?
Tom Borelli: Sorry guys, we have to end the debate. We’re running out of time. Thank you so much for joining us this [00:08:00] morning.
