Mika Brozinsky, um, apparently shut down her husband, Joe Scarborough today as he was making a suggestion of who might be a non-controversial comedian to host the White House Correspondence dinner.

Now that Amber Ruffin is no longer take a listen.

Loser: Why don’t we have a, like a non-controversial comedian like, uh, bill Burr. That wouldn’t raise any eyebrows. Just talk about Elon for an hour. Yeah,

Binaca De La Garza: I think it was a, you know, I mean I, I guess they’re just, you know, being snarky, but they really made a good decision, I would think. This comedian, Amber Ruffin had said some terrible things and it just seemed to be a platform that should be somebody who maybe is not so outwardly biased.

Malik. I mean, again, we know that, you know, they barely wanted to jab Biden. I think Colin Yost did a really good job last year as I was there, but. She was saying these things that are are just crazy. Um, I don’t know who’s gonna replace her, but they’ll find somebody, I think

Melik Abdul: wait so long and goodbye. I think that, believe it or not, this is one of the few times I’m probably gonna agree with something that Joe Scarborough said.

I think that the White House Correspondence Association absolutely should look for talent. Is just simply non less controversial. [00:03:00] And I think we saw with Amber, and this isn’t the first time. Yeah, this is, and it even, even, it’s not even limited to the White House Correspond, disassociation dinner. Whether it’s the Kennedy Center, you look at all of our institutions around the country, you look at award shows, they have all been not just slanted, they’ve been anti-Republican, they’ve been anti Donald Trump.

So I think that they did a good, they made a good move here. But I hope that they learn a lesson comedy, Donald Trump, Republicans, we love comedy. Yeah, we love to be roasted. All of that stuff is great, but the person, Amber, the stuff that she said, they did absolutely the right thing. And as I said so long Amber.

Binaca De La Garza: That’s right. Oh, Jim Gaffigan could be really good. I mean, he was great at the dinner in New York. Um, I mean, he’s a Trump fan too. I mean, listen, the left’s not gonna be satisfied no matter whoever it is, gene, and we still don’t know actually if President Trump will attend. We know Caroline Levitt said No, thanks.

Gene Valentino: Yeah, [00:04:00] well, you just nailed it. The White House correspondence dinner. I. It spotlights everything that’s wrong with the news media today. It’s become all about the correspondence instead of the truth. Uh, those dedicated journalists in the profession have got to be embarrassed by what, uh, they, uh, what they see here.

I, I just hope that they pivot and become, I wouldn’t say neutral or conservative. But balanced and develop a little bit of integrity. That’s where I think it needs to start. Bianca.

Binaca De La Garza: I think so. Alright, so Bill Maher, um, is getting a meeting with President Trump and it was Kid Rock who brokered it and this is happening at the White House.

Um, let’s play a little bit of, uh, what Trump actually post posted on Truth Social, if we can put this up. Um, he basically laid it out that he’s taking the meeting, but Trump says the problem is no matter how much he likes your favorite president. Me. Um. [00:05:00] He says, uh, I did. I really didn’t like the idea much, and I don’t like it now.

Sorry. We’re all over the place here with these things. The problem is no matter how much he likes your favorite president, he will publicly proclaim what a terrible guy am. Very much like the Democrats at my recent address to the joint session of Congress. Oh, and we all saw that. I mean, they couldn’t stand for a 13-year-old cancer survivor.

I don’t know. I, I’m, I’m holding out hope that there’s something, you know, bill Maher maybe has seen the light a little bit. What do you think, Malik? Too optimistic.

Melik Abdul: So I hope I don’t get hate mail for saying this, but I don’t like this idea, particularly because it’s Bill Maher. There have been so many people over the years who have been just dead set against Donald Trump and not just Donald Trump on a, you know, as far as policies, but just on a personal level, they’ve attacked us.

Many of us who supported Donald Trump since 2016, many of the maga, they’ve been attacking us. And then they have kind of this. Awakening and then they get to sit before Donald Trump. Yeah. You know, [00:06:00] in a meeting with Donald Trump, I get why Kid Rock did it. You know, I’m not opposed to Donald Trump talking to people who legitimately have, you know, maybe some disagreements with him.

But I think that for those people who have just been outright disrespectful. When it comes to Donald Trump and those of us who support him, I say, Donald Trump, don’t sit down with him at all, but it, he’s the president and it does make him look very presidential. To sit with someone who, at least as far as publicly has been his political enemy.

Binaca De La Garza: It sure does. And you know, Mika and Joe went there. Um, we’ve seen, of course, everyone at the inauguration, you had to love Zuckerberg and Bezos and everyone was just so incensed that they were there with President Trump. Uh, but you know what? You’re right. He’s taking the high road with Bill Maher. I don’t know what will happen as a result, but I think it does show his influence and power as he is here in the second term, and people showing him a lot more respect than they did before.

Gene Valentino: Well, I couldn’t [00:07:00] agree more. Uh, you know, 2024, bill Maher made a pretty stinging joke about Trump being raped in prison after his convictions, uh, that it was really unkind, unfair. He, a few years prior, a separate comedian making a jo a joke about decapitation, as if there’s some humor in that.

He’s a better man than me. I’m not sure I would’ve tolerated. That level of, uh, uh, of, of discord, um, Malik’s spot on. Um, let’s see. He, that’s why he’s President Bianca. That’s why he survived. If he can bring these dissonant parties, togethers, he has saved democracy and he’s on a good path.

Binaca De La Garza: Yeah, well, he is willing to give an olive branch to Iran talk about, you know, somebody who’s looking to try to, you know, make some peace deals and we certainly hope.
